Your boards never leave your device

Every workspace, column, card, tag, note, timer and image you create is stored in your own browser, under the kanban.v1 key in localStorage (images in IndexedDB). There is no account, no sign-in and no server of ours holding a copy. We cannot read your boards, recover them, or hand them to anyone — if you clear your browser data they are gone, which is why Export lives in the rail menu.

What is collected

Consent

If you are in the EEA or the UK, AdSense does not load until you accept the banner. Decline and no ad script is ever fetched — the app works exactly the same. Elsewhere it loads by default and you can decline from the same banner. Your choice is kept in localStorage under kanban.consent; clearing your browser data asks you again.

Supporters and Plus pass holders see no ads at all.

Your rights

Because we hold no account, most requests are things you can do yourself: your board data is exportable and deletable from inside the app, and clearing site data removes everything we ever stored. For the ad data held by Google, see how Google uses data from sites that use its services, or opt out of personalised ads at My Ad Center. If you are in the EEA or UK you have the right to access, correct, delete and port your data, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Kani is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes and contact

Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Questions, or a request about your data: hello@kaniban.com.
